Service Description
Hours: 2 online, 22-27+ in-person (without lunch or breaks) 22 hours for 6 students 23 hours, 20 minutes for 7 students 24 hours, 40 minutes for 8 students 26 hours for 9 students 27 hours, 20 minutes for 10 students **Add 1 hour of class time for participant lesson prep (homework time) if class is taught on consecutive days. Class Size: 6 Minimum, 10 Maximum **If there are fewer than 6 students, the host facility will need to supply a certified lifeguard to participate as a mock student in the class for practice teaching sessions. Minimum age 17 years, must have a current Red Cross Basic Lifeguard certification Student must supply their own: --Adult and infant Pocket Mask and hip pack --Lifeguard Instructor Manual--hard copy (free download from Red Cross Learning Center and print on own or purchase at redcross.org/store ) --Lifeguard Manual--hard copy or digital copy (free download from Red Cross Learning Center); if using digital copy, your device must be able to go onto the pool deck. --Lifeguarding Course Presentation (free download from Red Cross Learning Center) or Lifeguarding Course DVD (purchase from Red Cross Store) --Must bring proof of age (driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate) and proof of current Red Cross Basic Lifeguard certification Facility Requirements: --Classroom space with projection screen and dry erase board --Pool with 7 ft+ deep water --One backboard for every 3 students --One rescue tube for every 2 students --Certified Lifeguard for the in-water portions of the class (cannot be a participant in the class or the instructor trainer) Registrations will close two weeks prior to the class to allow for time to complete the assignments and for LGIT organizational time. After filling with the host facility's staff, open spots in the class will be opened to the public. (Heller Safety Solutions will help with the logistics of this.)
Cancelation Policy
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations are dealt with on a individual basis by emailing hellersafetysolutions@gmail.com. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice receive no refund, but they may reschedule for a future class offered by Heller Safety Solutions. Cancellations with 3-7 days notice may receive a 50% refund, or they may reschedule for a future class offered by Heller Safety Solutions. Cancellations with more than 8 days notice may receive a full refund, or they may reschedule for a future class. For rescheduling, note that not all classes are offered on a regular basis. Refunds are not available for those who do not complete the online portion of blended learning classes prior to class. Online module technical issues must be addressed directly to the Red Cross by calling 1-800-red-cros and asking to speak to Support. (I am not an IT professional–I cannot help you with any tech issues.) Do not wait until the last minute to complete your online module, in case you have problems with it. Refunds are not available for “no shows.” You must contact Heller Safety Solutions via email prior to the start of class. Students who arrive more than five minutes tardy for class will need to reschedule. Heller Safety Solutions may cancel or reschedule classes at any time due to: Facility conflicts Weather Family emergencies Vehicle emergencies Instructor illness Low number of registrations for the class In these cases, as much notice as possible will be given to class participants via email and Heller Safety Solutions will work with students to reschedule for a future class offered by Heller Safety Solutions.
